Last weekend we hosted a Terrain building weekend at the Rabbit Hole. I wish that I could match Ricalope's Productivity, Of building and painting a tables worth of terrain in one weekend, but I doubt there is many who can, so I will endeavour to at least finish what i did make. it took me all week to finish them but i managed it. here is what i made.

I have been bouncing all over the place with my productivity lately. I keep falling into the "I will do a blog post once I finish something" slump. Well considering that I am having a hard time sticking to one project for more than a day or two at a time, I'm slowly getting lots done but nothing complete to show for it. I have been painting Castle mountain and it is almost half finished just a few touch ups to do once I finish the other half piece.

I have been painting my Warmachine Cryxx army as I want to play with them at Gottacon 2012.

I have been working on assembling a collection of RPG minis as I have a tendency to use battle maps a lot when I am Scene Lording. I have actually finished one but thats because its one of the victims i play in one of the bi weekly campaigns i partake in. Pictures of these will be posted in my other blog but here is a sneak peak if you don't feel like clicking the link.

Treasure and mushrooms!

I am going to apologize now, My posting will be far and few and between till after July. I have other hobbies and projects on the go right now that are getting almost all of my dedication and time so that they are done for the end of June. I will probably post more on my other blog for that though so If you still want to see what I am up to you can check out here for that: my geeky adventures.
I have finally gotten around to finishing painting these. Previously unpainted here.

I also put together these markers sometime a while ago, but they are now fully painted ready for use.

These were actually really simple to paint, I don't know why I procrastinated so long.
As soon as I am done farming mushrooms I will be back to painting the mountain.

Ok I am not the only one who thinks of the Dark Eldar as Pirate Space Elves, right.?
I have caught the Dark Eldar bug. I cant stop thinking about them I woke up this morning because I was assembling Dark Eldar in my dreams and I knew I was dreaming so I decided to get up and do it for real. I spent yesterday building this ravager. I have a feeling I am going to be going through a lot of boxes of Wytches. I broke into the box of Wytches when building this to replace the bow gunner and the helmsman with Wytch bodies, and I stole the cool helmets out of the Wytch box for the side gunners heads.

It is still in a lot of pieces because I will glue some of it together after painting. I assume this is going to be a painting nightmare already so anything to make it easier right. I have left all the moveable pieces unglued so it is fully functional, its nifty how many moving parts there are in this kit. I'm really excited about this newly re-vamped line of miniatures since I've really been only biding my time till they come out. I have been pining for dark Eldar since I started with this hobby, But I was advised by Ricalope to wait till the new codex and line of minis came out, He was right, It is worth the wait. I am glad I have more experience as a hobbyist now as otherwise I would have destroyed these delicate pieces. I didn't use 5 of the warriors that came in this kit and I'm sure I'm going to need another one, then I'll have 10 warriors at this rate I won't need to buy any ever, especially since I wasn't planing on it. This kit has a ton of extra bits and on a bacon and cheese awesome scale it is uber bacon and cheesy. I am so Excited!

Yup I'm starting a new 40K army. Dark Eldar. I am making them Pleasure cultists and their paint designs are going to resemble Slaanesh's symbol. I will work on some fluff to go along with it.

Of course the Helliarch is female, as my army is going to be Matriarchal.

I know no conversions on these ones but thats ok they are just the first box.

Castle mountain Part 2

Everything is now glued down and set in place. A bunch of gap filling and rubble making later, and now it is ready for priming. Gap filling and rubble took a lot longer than I had anticipated, It sure looks better now though. I was so excited to start painting that I forgot to take pictures until after I started painting the foam bits black. Which is the next step before spray priming. So halfway finished I remembered, due to prompting from Ricalope mind you.

I am eager to paint this and have 3 days off after today, so the next post will probably come soon.

Castle Mountain part 1

If you have seen Ricalope's Death mountain then you probably have mountain envy too. But You probably don't see the source of your envy on a daily basis. So the solution to this problem is clearly build my own mountain right, ok well a full day of non stop work and one after work evening later here is the beginnings of my Castle mountain. Ricalope is nick naming it Fantasy mountain and suggests that I put a grail shaped light at the top but that just keeps making that scene and the lines of those girls from Monty python go through my head over and over ... far too perilous, far too perilous. but with further adieu here is the beginning of my castle mountain.

It is 2 pieces that when put together are 4ft long by 2ft wide by 2ft tall. more to come later it still needs rubble and some of the pieces are not finished being glued on. But this is a big project so WIP posts is a must.

Gottacon Aftermath

Oh my Goddess! What an amazing convention. I had a phenomenal time. I did Way better than I ever could have dreamed of doing in the 40K tournament. My Army list also did much better than was expected.
I won First over all.!!

I was shocked, I started shaking as I walked up to receive my prize, and after prize pictures were taken, I walked back stunned and then started crying a little bit. Such a girl reaction. But one that is kind of expected for me.

First game Saturday, Capture and control mission. I am playing against Chaos space marines Slaanesh themed. My opponent looks at my Army and Says Oh shit boys who forgot to pray to Slaanesh this morning? End of game I hold my objective and contest his. I look at his Army and say Ok boys next time more Debauchery! This game was a great game and My opponent was enjoyable to play against this was my second favourite game.
Second game Saturday, I am playing against Blood angels. Squig hunt. This game was confusing, but fun, because of fluff, the details of the mission needed to be more concise. The table I was playing on had almost no line of sight blocking and no cover, which screwed me over. I lost the game 1 point to 2.
Third game Saturday, Inhiliation mission. I am playing Orks I play on a regular basis against, we have a standing vendetta already. I win this one probably because we have to call the game at the end of the fourth turn due to running over time too long but then again, I had 60% of my army left to his 30%.
First game Sunday, Objective based game, 4 objectives. I am playing against Another blood angels list. We tie with 1 held and one contested each.
Second game Sunday, Assassination mission I am playing against Chaos space marines, I win this one by 4 points. This game was a ton of fun we laughed and joked around a lot This was my favourite game of the weekend.
Sorry I didn't get any pictures of my battles all the pictures I'm posting are stolen, my camera didn't have batteries and I didn't have time, or remember to get more when I could. We played a Zombies!! game Friday night that I won and one Saturday night that I totally bombed at.
All in all it was a very successful weekend for me.

There were 5 tables of daemon world there.

Raw, Raw,Raw, Go Chaos!
I have finally finished 9 cheerleaders, these are acting as my Pink horror models. I enjoy saying "Eat flaming pom pom's!" at my enemy when these girls shoot. Most of these are form the blood bowl range, one Mordheim model and of course a daemonette who acts as the changeling. There are still 7 more models left to paint for this unit but for now these nine are going to Gottacon so I needed them totally finished.

And i also needed 2 more Chaos Furies for my Gottacon list so I finished these 2 off as well

More terrain for Gottacon!

I am excited that Rabbit Hole Games, will be providing a large amount of terrain for Gottacon. So I have been trying to get as much terrain as I can, finished before then.
Now Rabbit hole games is what we have decided is going to be the official name of the gaming group we have been growing over in my neck of the woods. Ricalope and I have quite the little haven of geekery going in our domicile and we have accumulated a group gamers. There is often some sort of game happening, so in order to try to keep a bulletin board of what's going on in the Rabbit hole as our house is affectionately called we have created a blog network. So last year about this time I had these seekers that I was wanting to take to Gottacon so I made sure they were mostly finished as in all the base coats at least finished. WIP pics here, PIP pics here. Well I still plan on taking them to Gottacon again this year so I decided they should get properly finished, here they are with all their details.

Judith of course is a herald but she got painted with the unit so her pictures got taken at the same time too.

When I was building the unit of seekers riding cats I was also building a herald to ride with them. She took a lot more work so was not finished at the same time, but once I had the seekers finished, I knew I needed her finished to ride with with them before I could field them. I was so excited when she was finished and eager to paint her that I forgot to take pictures. I ploughed through most of the base coats in a day and then spent about a week finishing up the fine details. It took a little longer before she got grass but her she is totally finished. I also couldn't decide what pictures to post so here are all the good ones. I think she likes the camera.

I have meaning to post this for a while, and so now I have a back log of posts that need to be done. So I apologize, I need to post more often. It is because of the people who follow my blog that I remember to take pictures, and my motivation to blog, so thank you for your support.

A Geeky Girls New Years.

This new years I decided I did not want to deal with party mayhem so instead I invited Dezzy over to hang out have a few drinks and work on warhammer stuff. We were joined in this adventure by Ricalope and Chris. We were all quite productive and had a lot of fun, we learnt that 4 people in a small apartment all gluing stuff for 6 hours is toxic. We need to learn how to ventilate better. I spent the next 2 days recovering from glue poisoning. Here are pictures of us working on stuff....

This is my super secret project I mentioned.... A present for a really good friend of mine, Today is his birthday. Happy birthday Chris! His blog is: Swimming Eagle.

Because every gamer can always use more terrain. I don't get the chance to make industrial terrain often, so this was a lot of fun. This was also my first chance to get to attempt painting rust. Christmas and Boxing day productivity

I was very productive this holiday weekend. I painted a river that is 13 sections long, I started building the other 5 sections for the river, I modified a crater I plan on turning into a pond. I started painting some forest bases, I built a tower and prepared some stuff for priming and I brought the hill with a fountain closer to completion.
Wow when i type it out it doesn't sound like that much. but it spans 2 work tables so maybe pictures would help. This is all still work in progress, The layers of water effects take a lot of drying time, so you will get finished product pictures later. I'm just very proud of my self for how much I accomplished this weekend

Preparing for Gottacon

So Gottacon our local gaming convention is just around the corner and once again I am entered in the 40K tournament. I wasn't sure that I wanted to enter this year but then i was given a ticket so I guess I'm playing. People around me like to encourage me to play. But this means now that I have to come up with a list, and make sure its ready to play, I would like to not have any unfinished models on the table this year. I will also need to play test my list a few times. Yes the rabbit hole is providing terrain again which means there will be some daemon world tables so I am also working on more terrain.

November Painting Competition entry

The Sheffield irregulars an awesome hobby group, has a monthly painting competition. the rules of the competition state that the model has to be painted start to finish in the month of the competition. This month's theme is Red. I decided that I am going to enter the champion of my cat riding seeker unit as she is the red one out of my rainbow. So I had to take some better pictures of her. So here they are.

The Main Hall

I want a big modular castle. This is going to be the main hall.
I already have some tall walls and some wall rubble pieces, next would be some watch towers and maybe a moat and drawbridge with gate house. The wall bits used to make this three part hall were from the Pegasus Gothic city building and the Gothic city ruins kits. Then I used some wooden stir sticks and side walk plastic card for the flooring and purple Styrofoam for the base. this was daunting to paint, so much surface area. Good thing modular pieces are done a bit at a time.

With the new release of the battle missions book of course comes the need for mission specific terrain. The daemons mission calls for a warp gate. Well here is mine. I wanted it to be an arch way that the daemons can walk through. I decided to make the purple tile so it had a "red carpet" effect.

I know it as been a very long time since my last post. The lack of internet at home has been partly to blame. But mostly, for a while I wasn't working on anything for table top war gaming as my other hobbies took over. I have a lot of other projects on the go so trying to find a balance between all of them is still something I am looking for, and of course summer comes and everything gets put aside for fun and friends and parties. But now that fall is here the hobbies are back on my plate and I am once again being creatively productive. I started this unit quite a while ago (See the beginning here) then put it aside as the conversion was turning out to be a bit beyond my skills at the time, I was really struggling with them and getting frustrated. But the idea was a really good one and I had already bought the parts to make it happen. So admitting partial defeat I set them aside and forgot about them for a while. Then the new plastic seekers came out and I got inspiration like a light bulb just turned on. I picked up the seekers and pulled out the cat girls again. these were primed the morning after Halloween. I did not take pictures of the finished assembly, sorry. But now they are finished being painted so here are final pictures. And a finished hill. I realise now looking at the pictures, that in my rush to get them photographed and posted, I forgot about grass. So in the morning I will glue grass onto them and then they will be truly finished.

Blog Title Change

Hey all, sorry about the possible confusion over my Blog title Change. I have made the decision to pick up a different army for a different game, and the plans for a Dark Eldar army have been stewing around in my head for quite some time now. Since, I don't really want to split up my wargame posts and have to maintain yet another blog (two is enough), it was time for a change of title.
I am really excited about the Warmachine order that came in yesterday.

I am starting to collect a Satyxis (pirate) themed, Cryx army for Warmachine. Now to open these up and start building.

Slaanesh wants Chocolate!

MMMMmmm Chocolate. Happy bunny day to all. Today we celebrated, with an Easter egg hunt. 600 Pts, 3 person free for all. We used the War Without End rule from the Battle Missions codex, and Random Deployment rule. The objective of the game was to find as many eggs as you could. A model picked up an egg when it moved into base contact with an egg by ending a movement. If a model perished it drops its eggs. So you can steal eggs from your opponents, there was a lot of horde swapping once the end of the game was drawing to a close. I managed to come in second, after foolishly gambling my horde to Chris and then stealing Ricalope's.

As a side note I just had a new Display/Cary case built for my army for the next tournament I take it to. I plan on building a diorama or two for it.

I decided to put up an army pic at the top of my blog but since you cant click on it to make it bigger with out putting in a link, i figured id post the full size pic and use that as my link. I have been greatly inspired to make terrain since gottacon. It started as being sick from gottacon and only working on terrain cause it was fun and easy to a month long terrain binge for the most part. I acomplished alot. I had a bunch of built stuff waiting to be finished from the terrain building open house weekend we had in preperation for gottacon, that I finished and I started and finished other stuff as well. here are some pics of all the stuff I have brought to compleation since my last post.

now with all my other terrain added to what I just finished. I now have an impressive looking 8x4 temple table.

I am quite happy with the way my daemon world is coming along so far and I have plots for a mountian with a waterfall and a stream. the word Oasis keeps floating around in my head since I like the way the water effects turns out I keep wanting to make more water terrain. oh and more walls and buildings of some sort with walls or something to provide cover. and of course more piles of rubble to represent broken/blown up wall. more trees too and maybe forest bases. Some strange chaos floating rocks would be cool too.

Gottacon 2010 pics

As the pictures have been trickling in I have been pilfering and collecting them to share. My daemonette costume turned out well. And yes i played 3 games of Warhammer while wearing a corset it was actually not as uncomfortable as one would think. but after 14 hrs of being painted purple I did want a shower badly, and I still didn't get one for another 5hrs. What a gaming marathon. next time i bring a towel and a cloth, and a cooler full of snackies (as that would have made my day go smoother I was getting quite cranky by the end).

I'm still kicking myself for not making a point to get some pics on my camera. next year I will be more prepared. This was my first convention and gaming marathon, to that extent and now I know what to expect sort of. IT WAS AWESOMELY OVERWHELMING. And I am still recovering. Hopefully there will be more pictures to add to this sooner than later but for now this is what Ive got.

Pink Whores (PIP)

These 9 were the whores that i took to Gottacon with me. I ran out of time so I just made sure that they were fully basecoated. They still need a lot of touchups and highlights but they were good enough for the time that I had.

there was tons of inspiration for me at the convention, and I have massive terrain ideas floating around in my head. I barely survived Gottacon I am sick now from lowering my immune system from that insane gaming long weekend.I didn't take many pictures and forgot to get any of me in my costume on saturday, so once I track down some of the many that were taken I will post them for you. I have only been working on terrain because im sick and its fun and easy. I will eventually get back to finishing these and the seekers but for now im trying to take it easy and get my health back up.

Gottacon winnings and inspiration

I did really well with my army at Gottacon. I got many many compliments and Wow's and no fairs(due to the short period of time I have been painting for, and the skill level that I seem to be displaying). Most people were very impressed with me and my army. I got many votes for best painted and placed Fourth or tied for Fourth or something like that, I have been told. It was a close race form what I was told. There was no prize for fourth, but to me its bragging rights in its own. There were 44, 40k players in the tourney and to have been that high up, in the best painted with my first army in my first tournament is pretty darn good. (Especially with 2 units not finished, only basecoated.) Next year I will do better. In the Apocalypse game Fri night I won a Bastion and some basing stuff and a laser targeter, and this is what I have done with the bastion so far. I realized that we are out of primer so it will have to wait to be painted.

For the Tournament I borrowed objective markers off Ricalope from his Fantasy collection. Having my own objective markers was good because most of the time my opponent didn't have any. So This has inspired me to make my own, this is what I have come up with: (they still need to be painted but that will have to wait till after we get more primer)

Centaurii Daemonettes?

After painting Lilith I got the great idea to make daemonette centaurs, to count as seekers. Now, I have not abandoned my last seeker plan, I'm just struggling with the conversions of them so much that I have deemed them beyond my hobby skills at this point in time. I have set them aside for now and come up with an alternative that is an easier conversion for me to do. This way I can still have a unit of seekers soon, and then when I feel I'm better equipped for the challenge, I will pick the cat mounted girls back up again and then I will have two units of seekers. Besides this idea is equally as cool. So here they are the first four before priming. I didn't do in between step pictures of the build so all your getting is final product here, as this was the tester set. There will be more to come soon, I am just waiting for a mail order of bases and more elven steeds. of course ill have to do the command upgrades for this unit and I'm almost finished the one with the Icon (not shown here).
Also I'm working on a Herald to run with this unit, and she is only a few putty stages away from being finished so maybe within the week ill be posting that too.

Another Fiend of Slaanesh

It took me almost a week to build this one model. They are such a pain in the ass to build. Between all the re-posing and putty work needed to make it look right, it is very time consuming. As of now it is already primed and waiting to be painted, and as usual I have no idea how im going to paint it, ill just start and let the model tell me how it wants to be painted.

Lust Grinder Lilith Finished

I finally finished her. The lust grinder I commissioned Ricalope to build for me. Stage 6 went easily after I finally stopped nitpicking over the tiny details. I decided to add head tattoos in Space wolf grey highlighted with Ice blue. and I added tattoos on her legs in Enchanted blue highlighted with hawk turquoise. once I finally decided I was finished I put the grass on the base. Then I gave her a spay with Purity seal. once that was dry I gave the black armour parts a coat of gloss varnish watered down with very metallicy water, I did this by cleaning out my water pot and putting a small amount of water back in and adding a glob of boltgun metal to it. I also added a coat of gloss to the nipples and gems and crystals. It was nice out today so lots of light so all the pictures turned out more or less and im having a hard time deciding what ones to use so im going to post them all.

Ok here is where im a little indecisive. I realized that the big circle on the back is a gem so I tried to make it appear unsettled looking, i decided that the vent like ribbing on her skin needed to stand out more so I did a really watery wash of 50% Litch purple 50% Warlock purple, over some of it and in the creases. I did all the touchups I could see although I am still finding some here and there. I did some tattoos on her shoulderpads In Space wolf grey. She still needs the varnish coat and grass on her base and her name, but i was going to do that all as the final 7th step. At this point I'm trying to decide if she is finished ready for the final touches of stage 7 or if she needs something more. I'm kinda thinking more tatoos and some designs on her armour like some coming up her legs from the hooves, but I can't decide what colour(s) for the armour, should i give her head tattoos or whether she needs eyelashes or not? look at the pictures below and leave a comment tell me what you think. As a bonus all the pictures i took turned out really well so im going to post them all.

First Convention Excitement!

There is going to be a gaming convention near me! Gottacon 2010.

I have been gifted a ticket and asked to bring my army. This will be my first ever convention. I am very excited. I am unsure about entering the tournament though. I would need to have 1750 pts fully painted by then. I might be able to do it if I paint like a mad woman. I also have some terrain that I need to finish by then, as Ricalope is supplying a good portion of the terrain for the event and since all my terrain is mixed with his it will be going too. As an avid wearer of costumes (any chance I get really) I think I will wear a costume to this event. It would seem fitting if I dressed in theme with my army, even though I'm not sure If that would be too unfair of a distraction.

Ok thats it for now I just had to get that off my chest :P

*Edit* a few days after this post I found out that there will be a costume contest , but there are no details about it yet. So now my head is coming up with better and better ways to turn me into a daemonette. I think it is time to go corset shopping. Also my worries about not having enough points painted in time for the tournament are a little silly as I just finished tallying up all my fully painted models. As of right now with minimum upgrades I have 1566 points and it fits into a force org. its not 1750 but its not too far off, its just not the army i would want to be bringing, in my mind its not balanced enough. I have plotted out my ideal 1700 pts that I would like to bring but it would mean that I would have a lot to get finished before then. So we will see either way I can enter and show off my army. I will have something fully ready by then It might not be my ideal list but it will fit into a force org and be only fully painted&based models. I am really excited!

The whole paint job on this model had gone very smoothly so far. I had no idea how it was going to look and i only sorta know now because its close to being finished. Each step of the way I put paint on the brush and she tells me where to put it. Not so sure its a good thing that a greater daemon is whispering so sweetly in my head, but hey I dammed my self from the beginning point of deciding to collect this army. And now just barley silenced by the greater daemon on the paint table in line before her, I have a newly primed Lust grinder I commissioned Ricalope to build for me waiting to be painted next. I'm pretty sure the only reason she isn't screaming in my head yet is because Chaladran is silencing her till im finished.

Finished Trees and a Gazebo

ok these have been finished for a few weeks now but when I last tried to post about it I realised that I didn't take enough pictures, and then it took me a while to remember to take more pics. well I finally remembered this morning. The top of the gazebo is removeable for ease of taking models in and out of it.

14 trees so far and I have enough supplies to make 14 more. for the amount of jungle I want for a table this is just the begining Ill probably need like 20 more after that. more terrain is in the works I am working towards being able to play a planet strike on my daemon world. so walls are in order soon

Keeper Of Secrets putty finished

The poll I took for this helped me to decide to go with the more feminine form. This took 4 bouts of putty to do, apparently I didn't take pictures except for after the first bout and the last bout of putty. I think she turned out quite well and there is no denying that she is female. I had fun sculpting this and I even gave her visible genitalia.

I look forward to painting her. Hopefully I'll be able to prime soon.

Pink Whores Command and some other putty work done

I finally got around to doing some puttying that has been needing to be done for a while. And I did up the conversion ideas I had for the command for my unit of whores. Keeping in the cheerleader theme of this unit I decided that the Changeling character upgrade should be a daemonette with pompoms. The champion is the Mordheim Countess Marianna Chevaux given pompoms and the musician is the blood bowl chaos cheerleader with a few modifications.

I finished off the last flamer I had started, making that unit 6 so far.

And I finished off the last 2 furies I had on the go as well.

now if it would only stop raining so I could prime.
